How to take it
- Inject once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food.
- Inject under the skin of your tummy, thigh or upper arm, changing the spot each week.
- Keep pens in the fridge. An unopened pen can be kept at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 30 days.
Usual dose steps
- Start on 2.5mg once a week for 4 weeks.
- Increase to 5mg. Your prescriber may increase by 2.5mg at a time, at least 4 weeks apart.
- Stay on the dose that works for you, between 5mg and 15mg.
Your prescriber agrees each change with you at your check-ins, based on your progress and any side effects.
What results to expect
In clinical trials, people lost about 20% of their body weight on average over 72 weeks, alongside diet and activity changes.
Results vary from person to person. Trial figures are averages for people who also changed their diet and activity.
Side effects
The most common side effects are feeling sick, diarrhoea, constipation, indigestion and tummy pain. They're usually mild, are most likely when starting or increasing a dose, and tend to settle.
Get urgent medical help if you have a severe allergic reaction, severe or persistent stomach pain, or vomiting or diarrhoea that leaves you dehydrated. Always read the leaflet supplied with your medicine.
